Breaking barriers: JAAC recognizes accessibility in Grimsby

Lincoln Park Retirement Residence scored a 97 per cent on committee’s assessment. Since he lost his vision a decade ago, Stephen Barker (chair of the joint accessibility advisory committee, a group that advocates for accessibility and inclusivity in Grimsby, Lincoln, West Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Thorold and Pelham) has been working to take down barriers in his life. It’s similar for anyone with accessibility issues, whether that be mobility, vision or a loss of hearing. Removing barriers becomes a part of their lives. Retirement counsellor Heather Butler said the staff were proud to receive the certificate.
